SKC receives commendation from SME Minister for its role in win-win cooperation between large and small/medium businesses

• At an MSS-hosted ceremony commemorating the Week of Accompanied Growth 2020

• In recognition of a win-win cooperation in an open platform, _ base_d on new materials/technologies, Startup Plus, Masters of Industry, etc.

   

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) recognized the contribution, made by SKC (President Lee Wan-jae), to a voluntary win-win cooperation between large and small/medium businesses.

On November 4, SKC received a commendation from the Minister of SME and Startups, at a ceremony held to commemorate the Week of Accompanied Growth 2020. SKC was one of the 12 businesses/institutions and 17 individuals receiving the commendation, in the sector of a voluntary win-win cooperation.

SKC has operated the following programs to provide support for the commercialization of products made by businesses, specializing in materials: a new materials-related, technology-_ base_d Open Platform, SKC Startup Plus (an open competition/exhibition, participated in by businesses), and Masters of Industry (a platform, which _ link_s experts with businesses that require their consultation).

Three years ago, SKC began making efforts to grow with promising SMEs/startups in the materials sector. In 2017, the Company, along with expert institutions, like the Ulsan Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, launched Open Platform to provide support for the commercialization of promising SMEs/startups in the materials sector. Since then, the Company has steadily increased the number of participating institutions/businesses.

SKC has also held SKC Startup Plus, which is an Open Platform-_ base_d program for the selection of materials businesses that have good ideas on an annual basis. It is arranged that the businesses selected receive tangible/intangible assets, like startup education, R&D know-how, management infrastructure, etc., from participating institutions and SKC.

Last September, SKC opened their “Masters of Industry” service, which is an extended version of Open Platform. It is a platform service _ link_ing small-sized materials businesses with industrial experts. For this service, SKC signed MOUs with the National Academy of Engineering of Korea, which is the highest authority in engineering/technology in the country, for cooperation in strengthening the capabilities of materials businesses, last July.

Commenting on the matter, an SKC official said, “Last May, we became the 14^th ‘voluntary win-win business’ selected by the MSS. On top of that, we received a commendation from the minister. We will continue to strengthen the cooperative Open Platform, and do what we can to build a sustainable materials businesses ecosystem for the coexistence of large and small/medium-sized businesses, fulfilling our responsibilities as a corporate member of the community.”
