SKC (President Lee, Wan-jae) has published its first-ever sustainable management report. The company has posted its Sustainable Management Report 2020 on its homepage to disclose its economic, social, and environmental results with its activities aimed at creating social values and communicating with its stakeholders.

The SKC Sustainable Management Report 2020 introduces the Company’s management philosophy and efforts to _ create_ social values. It also includes the result of the Company’s operation, financial status, and non-financial status such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in 2019.

In particular, the report contains three major goals of sustainable management that the Company pursues on a mid/long-term basis. The Company has come up with nine issues regarded as core by both insiders and outsiders as a result of carrying out media research and questionnaire-_ base_d surveys among stakeholders. Based on them, the Company has selected the three major goals of sustainable management: ▲ securing future growth engines; ▲ having eco-friendly management take root, and ▲ pursuing stakeholders’ happiness. The report was drawn up centered on the three goals.

The report indicated the following as future growth engines: ▲ mobility material business centered on copper foil production for which the Company boasts of being the world’s No. 1 business; ▲ semiconductor material business such as CMP pad; and ▲ eco-friendly business centered on biodegradable materials and SKC Eco Label. In addition, the report details the efforts of the Company to accelerate the innovation of its business model (BM) by integrating Digital Transformation (DT) into the entire process of its operation ranging from R&D to greeting customers.

In the part about the effort to have eco-friendly management take root, the report introduces the Company’s joining the Alliance to End Plastic Wastes (AEPW) as the first-ever attempt by a Korean business, commencement of the activity for establishment of an ecological system for the virtuous cycle of plastics, efforts made by the Company for minimization of environmental impact from its production process including the use of eco-friendly HPPO method, and promotion of the development of eco-friendly, biodegradable new materials, etc.

In the part concerning the pursuit of stakeholders’ happiness, the report presents the result of the effort made for the greater happiness of stakeholders such as Happiness Talk, Happiness Survey, adoption of the horizontal position system, establishment of Smart Office, etc. and for the dissemination of stakeholders’ happiness centered on the Open Platform program _ base_d on new materials-related technologies. Said program is designed to help promising startups/ventures specializing in materials in their commercialization of their specialties, using tangible/intangible assets owned by institutions taking part in the program.

SKC plans to disclose its effort and results in its annual sustainable management report. “We will grow with stakeholders and maximize their happiness as a global specialty marketer by enhancing our economic and social values. We will also expand our communication with stakeholders and use the report to present our results centered on the three main goals,” an SKC official said.
